Why I Am Here

I started knitting and crocheting a long time ago. I was about 10 years old when my grandmother taught me to knit and a friend taught me to crochet.

I don't recall doing much besides making random swatches of the most impractical and prettiest yarns I could find. Eventually I gave up on this hobby as I wasn't quite sure how to do anything other than make gawdy blankets for my cats and barbie dolls.

When I had my first daughter, I ventured to make her a knitted hat from a pattern I found. At the time, I didn't know anything about gauge or needle size. So, I picked my favorite color of needle and made that hat. Unfortunately, it was too big for my daughter (also too big for me!) so I gave up again.

When my second daughter was born, I decided I was going to crochet her a blanket. I knew I could at least make blankets, and this would just be a bigger one. I read the pattern more carefully this time and chose the correct size hook and followed the pattern pretty closely, unfortunately I bungled the pattern some what. Dealing with a newborn I really didn't have time to do anything with it.

After my daughter got older, I found a pattern for a Cthulhu amugurumi and decided to make it. I realized just how peaceful it was to just sit and make something! So, once I was done with Cthulhu, I remembered that baby blanket and decided to complete it. My 5 year old daughter was enthralled and I somehow fixed the pattern so it's a great big mess with different patterns throughout. She loves it though!

After realizing that I can just empty my head and create, I kept finding more things to make. A scarf for my mother in law for Christmas. A cowl for myself. Random stuffed animals my daughter spied while I was searching ravelry.

My queue is full, but when I am knitting/crocheting my head is silent. When you are obsessive compulsive that is a blessed thing.

This blog will be about the things I am creating while keeping my mind clear, my frustrations and accomplishments.

Currently on the needles are a pair of arm warmers, and on my hook is a dinosaur for my daughter.

I also plan on starting a beret and a pair of thigh high socks (my first pair ever) when I get the double pointed needles I need in the mail.
